Cons:

Almost no weaknesses, maybe a more solid feeling remote would be nice but this is really stretching to find a fault with thisd great component video switch!

Review:

This is definitely one of the top component video switches on the market and is a great option for people who want to make life a little easier when it comes to swapping cables all the time. This component video switch allows you to use four input sources to two different outputs while maintaining excellent sound and video quality.

An issue sometimes people find with component video switches, especially ones that have multiple outputs, is the bandwidth can be used up very quickly if you’re using multiple HD sources. This excellent switch by Shinybow takes care of that issue and I’ve experienced no glitches of any sorts when using two different HD sources to different outputs simultaneously.

It might seem a little odd, but a device that is always on shouldn’t use much power and this one takes care of that issue by consuming next to nothing; this is great in a device that is constantly turned on.

Component video switches that offer an easy installation I find appealing and this one fits the bill. It took very little time to set up and start using this device and that’s something that is very appealing.

This switch is about as close to perfect as you can get on the market for this price range especially. I personally don’t find any weaknesses in this device and find it to be very effective in the job it does. The quality of the video output is crystal clear and there is no degradation of sound either. A must have for any enthusiast of a great personal home theatre.

This is the top pick for a component video switch!

Features:

The switching between multiple sources of component video and digital/analog/optical sources and displays

Fast installation was a goal of theirs I think

Supports up to resolutions of 1080p.

4:2 switcher IR remote control

Pros:

Great bang for the buck

Dual zone/dual HD with digital sound in both zones

Optical audio switching works like a charm

No loss of picture quality whatsoever

Cons:

Not enough outputs

Review:

This is probably hands down the best bang for the buck deal of all the component video switching devices out there. Starting with the installation it is extremely easy to install, literally takes seconds, the great picture and sound quality, resolution support and consistency and awesome remote control make this a must have package for anyone who is serious about improving their home theatre.

The cost of this component video switch seems like it is a little high at $300+ USD, however when you compare what you get between this switch and higher end switches you’ll find you’re getting all the features and more actually. The only thing you aren’t getting is the increased amount of input and output ports. In fact compared to some devices that are thousands of dollars more expensive, you’ll actually get dual zone/dual HD with digital sound in both zones; this feature is lacking in a great deal of component video switches, even the expensive higher end ones.

The switching between different optical audio sources is great. I have not felt any loss and it’s extremely easy. I would say when I switch between different input sources it is very slick sync with no loss of audio. I also find there is no loss of video that is output through the device either, it maintains whatever the resolution of the input device is operating at.

Considering the great bang for the buck it’s a little odd to wish for more output sources, but that would be a great thing, even one more output source would be great. But I can’t really complain a great deal about this component video switch because it is just a great overall device that works exactly like it ought to.

If you are an enthusiast of home theatre then this is a must have as it will make your home theatre environment so much easier to work with, especially if you few component inputs on your HDTV to work with. It might cost a little more than some of the other devices out there, but it’s worth every penny.

The copper construction provides a clear and sharp picture

Low loss component video cable allows for video to be transmitted and reproduced with higher quality

Pros:

Very high bandwidth so there is no downgrading

Very sharp picture

Resist corrosion

Cons:

Length. The cable is quite short at 1.5 metres. However, if you are connecting a component video switch or other device that is within this range, this actually becomes a bonus as the shorter the cable length the greater the signal quality!

Cost (potentially). Decent quality cables cost decent amounts of money. There is not much you can do to get around this fact. Given the specs of this high quality cable, it is actually a very good deal if you only require a 1.5 metre length. $40 or so if pretty good for this product if you can get yourself in the right frame of mind regarding just how much some other cables of this quality cost!

Review:

If you’re looking to the get the most out of your component device or to increase the throughput of a component video switch, cabling is often the issue. The Monster MV2CV-1.5M Component Video Cables seemed to present all aspects that I wanted to improve in this cable. The connection the Monster MV2CV cables bring is of superior quality and does not downgrade HDTV signals at all. Component video switches greatly could benefit from this as it would increase the bandwidth of the output cable that typically comes with those devices by a large margin.

The most important thing about this set of cables is the fact that HD signals are now downgraded at all due to the very high bandwidth that this set of cables brings you. Whether you’re using this cable from an HD receiver or a component video switch you can be assured there will be no signal loss as it is transmitted to the component device.

The gold contact Turbine RCA connectors are great elements of these cables as it really helps offset corrosion while improving the connection between component devices such as component video switches, HDTV’s, computers and other component devices.

The video is reproduced exactly as it sent in through these cables due to the high density copper stranding that is within the durable mesh tubing. This copper stranding allows for lower signal loss and protection from video noise that may occur.

The length of the cable is rather short, but I suppose it’s meant for either a direct connection from an HD component device or a component video switch so that’s likely the reason it is so short. The only other negative aspect of these cables is the cost; it is a little high to pay roughly $35 (USD) for a 1.5M set of cables.

Overall these cables seem to have been designed for component video switches and HD receivers in mind. They are set to deal with high bandwidth information that people don’t want to experience loss or degradation of video quality. If quality of video is more important than money, these set of cables will do the trick for you.

Review

This component video switch is pretty basic in most ways but it does a very fine job of adding three high definition sources to a HDTV set with ease. The installation of the selector switch was very easy. I simply followed the simple instructions that guided me step by step (pretty much unplug TV and devices, connect devices to component video switch, connect switch to TV and plug everything in). By having such clear instructions I found this to be a good experience.

When I was looking for a component video switch I noticed a lot of them are not that compact. I have a limited amount of space around my home theatre so this was a must as I didn’t want to have run long cables. The tiny dimensions of this product (1.75”Hx9.35”x4.25”) really attracted me.

I have found the remote control for this component video switch to have good range and it responds fairly quickly. I enjoy that I don’t have to get up and use a manual selection button and that it works well enough for me to not have to purchase a universal remote.

Supporting 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i was important to me also as I use devices that use all those resolutions and wanted to be sure that it would be compatible with those resolutions. It preserves them very well for movies and okay for most gaming sequences.

The only negative things I can say about this component video switch are that there is a slight loss of video quality when gaming and that is not very stylish. First the “pet peeve”; the design of the device is quite square and bland. I wish that the design was a little more current and perhaps “artistic”. The real issue though is that during gaming there appears to be some loss in video quality. The picture just isn’t as crisp as it is when I watch movies through a DVD player that also goes through the component video switch.

Overall I am pleased with this and think that it is good option to use if you want a lower end component video switch.

Pros:

Cons:

A little big

Perhaps more inputs

Review:

If you have a household with more than one TV set but use satellite or digital cable it sometimes is nice to have a component video switch that can accept multiple inputs and has multiple outputs. The cables to go 40973 3×5 component video matrix selector switch is a great option that will help overcome this issue by allowing 3 component video, audio and/or TOSlink female inputs and 5 component video, audio and/or TOSlink female outputs. After connecting your devices to the component video switch you will be able to watch any picture on any compatible output device.

This is a great device to use if you want to split inputs to more than one output device. This component video switch will solve that problem very easily and will retain the quality that is input. Something that was critical for me was retaining a high quality in picture or sound and this device answered the call perfectly. Another plus for this switch is the programmable remote control. Hands down this is very handy as I can program how to split inputs, direct inputs and switch inputs very easily. The buttons on the front of the device work great too, but being able to use the remote for this purpose is great when I am performing video editing.

Component video switches are handy pieces of equipment that make sharing inputs or consolidating an output a cinch. One thing that you have to remember though is if you have a large residence or office and are using a component video switch such as this, you may require a very large amount of cabling. This can really add to the costs of this switch, as high quality cables can be rather expensive. But if you need all the outputs this switch delivers, then cabling is just a fact of life for you!

I also thought it might be nice to have more inputs, but it’s not too necessary; I guess it’s just the “always want more” attitude.

This is a great device and moderately priced; it will solve a lot of issues and is perfect for a household or a SOHO. If you’re looking to retain quality and output a single output to multiple destinations this is definitely worth a look.

Review

Recently I decided to open a bar and was searching for a way to make my TV set up easy to use and controlled through one device and I came across this component video switch and decided to give it a go. The 8 input and 8 output matrix scheme was quite appealing to me as I could connect several different devices for multiple outputs and control it all with ease.

The installation of the device was surprisingly easy and required basically no technical knowledge. The instruction manual that comes with this component video switch was quite informative and explained things in an easy to understand manner.

There is absolutely no loss to video or sound quality from any device that can connect to the component video switch. I am using a cable receiver, computer, DVD player and VCR player as input sources currently and have experienced no loss in quality what so ever. I am very pleased with that.

If we decide to expand our bar we discovered this component video switch can be rack mounted and that is nice as we can stick with the same brand and have them set up in a nice tidy way. I could see having multiple component video switches that are of different brands causing some incompatibilities if used together.

The cost of this component video switch was rather hard to swallow; at roughly $1400 USD it is a tad on the high end I think. We decided to give a go though as we realize that you often have to pay more for high end quality equipment.

I would recommend this component video switch for anyone with large homes, bars, restaurants or any small establishment. This is a great option that is of extremely high quality both in design and in how it maintains video and audio quality for business needs. Though it is expensive we have found it works perfect for our needs.

Cons:

Difficult to find negatives about this unit. Not the cheapest on the market I guess. But for what you get, I you can’t really complain.

Review:

Working with multiple sources of input to more than one output can be a hard task sometimes; however component video switches are great options to help with controlling different inputs to different outputs. The 40473 component matrix video audio switcher is a great option for anyone that may be doing video, image or sound editing on a smaller scale. It is possible to control up to 4 different sources to two different outputs. This is something that’s great for when you want to minimize switching of cables and increasing productivity.

A feature that really stands out about this component video switch is the ability to control four different input sources and route them in different fashions. This ability cannot be understated when it comes to a switch used in a small home or a small video editing production environment. The ability to control the picture and the sound through the switch from the inputs is a critical element for a component video switch and really made this one stand out. The IR remote control is excellent and you are able to program macros that are complex very easily. These macros I’ve found to be useful if I quickly want to switch different inputs and outputs. The resolutions are maintained along with the audio and video beautifully with this component video switch.

The only negative thing I can really say about this device is the fact it’s a little bit pricey for how few inputs and outputs you’re getting. There are other devices that have more inputs and outputs for around the same price; however I suppose you would have to give up some of the quality you get with this component video switch in order to bring the price down.

This is an all around great option for anyone who is a little bit experienced with the world of component video switches. Give it a shot if you want greater control of your inputs and outputs of source devices or need to perform some sort of video editing.

Recommended.

The remote is kind of flimsy

Review:

This component video switch is a good option if you’re not sure if you’ll need more than two outputs. It’s reasonably priced for four outputs and four inputs and the picture and sound quality that is transmitted to the display(s) is of top quality. Many devices are supported by this switch so that is a great feature when it comes to this kind of device.

Using a satellite receiver, Video Scalars, DVD player, gaming device, computer or other device that has a component output is very simple with this device. You simply plug it into the device and it will be able to be used right away.

The picture and sound output by the component video switch is very good and it ensures that top quality will be output to the display that it is routing to. The resolution is maintained and the picture comes in clear and crisp. You can’t really ask for more when routing multiple sources to multiple outputs.

The two negative things I can say about this component video switch is that it’s a little bulky, so unless it’s meant to be rack mounted it might be a little obtrusive to the area that it is located in. The other thing is the remote feels a little flimsy for a device that is quite solid otherwise. It works well it just feels cheaper than other remotes you may be accustomed to. This has not caused me any problems at all.

This is a good option for people who might expand their business and need to be able to eventually mount several of these units together or for people who want a very high end home theatre system or a video editing environment. This component video switch may be overkill for the casual viewer; however they will be assured of exceptional picture and sound quality.

Review:

The 4×1 HD component AV selector is a budget piece of equipment that will work just enough to make you not throw it out. You are able to connect up to four input devices and output to one display while switching manually between the devices with the buttons on the component video switch.

Component video switches should be easy to install and this one is. It works reasonably well and allows you to do what you want to do in an intuitive fashion.

This device is available at a very low cost compared to some of the other component video switches that are out there in the market today. Given that it’s for someone on a budget you might not expect it to have as good of video and audio as it does. In fact there appears to be little to no degradation of video that goes through this component video switch!

Something that was really odd with this device is that you seem to only be able to have one type of input for this component video switch. You can’t hook them simultaneously it seems; this means that you can have component, all s-video or all composite inputs only; if you want it to function correctly. This may be a problem for some, and not at all for others.

The design and feeling of the product is rather cheap, but I suppose that’s just reflected in the cost of the device. It seems the metal casings around the connections on the component video switch are not attached as firmly as I would like and may pull out.

The connection between the manual selector buttons appears to be rather dicey; you have to gently touch it in exactly the right spot in order to change inputs seamlessly. I don’t understand why it can’t switch with ease upon the buttons being pressed.

Overall this is a component video switch for someone who is on a really tight budget. Even then it might be better to wait and get a better switch that is of higher quality. If you are in a bind and really need one go for it, but know you’re getting what you pay for in all aspects with this component video switch. Except of course where video is concerned – this device actually does really well in routing a clean signal between your devices. If that is all you need, then this switch might be for you.

Many other reviews have been quite favourable regarding this component video switch, so your milage may vary.

Review:

This component video switch features the ability to have 4 inputs to 1 output and a remote control to control which device is being used. The inputs supported are rather lacking with only S-Video and composite video connections being supported.

The good things that this component video switch presents are a low cost and a small design. The cost of switch is comparable with other low end models and has shortcomings like some of those also that will be discussed. The design is very convenient as it allows you to pretty much put it anywhere you’d like without it being too much of a sore to the eye.

This device has a great deal of shortcomings I found when compared to other component video switches. One thing that was really irritating was the fact that occasionally it would stop sending a signal from an input device. The only remedy I could find was the device needed to be restarted.

Another big pet peeve is that the component video switch does not have manual selection buttons; I found this detrimental because sometimes you may need to manually switch and also the fact that the remote seems to have buttons that don’t do anything; it would be nice to be sure I’m getting everything I can out of this component video switch.

The last pet peeve I found about this switch was the fact there seems to be very little documentation for this device in any location, whether it’s the instruction manual or online. There seems to be no one to answer questions either or to help you with technical support.

Overall I would say to stay away from this component video switch as you’re pretty much just wasting your money by purchasing it. There are better options out there, even at this price range. Check out the other component video switches on this site to find much better buys.

Pros:

The picture is great quality

Improves picture by breaking it down into different channels

Hard to tangle due to the cable organizer

Cons:

Length. As stated in other reviews, this is not an issue if you require a cable of only this length. You should always try to use the shortest cable possible to maximise picture quality.

Perhaps saturates the picture too much, but this will depend on your personal preferences

Review:

Component cables of various lengths are sometimes needed to connect different component devices to TVS or component video switches. The Monster ULT V1000 seems to have everything you could want out of a component video cable. The picture quality is improved, the cables are hard to tangle and the signal transfer is top of the line.

By having the picture broken up into 3 precision channels I’ve found that the video is very clear most of the time. This replaced the copper component cables that came with a component video switch and the results have been astounding as the picture seems to be much more clear and crisp than I remember it being with the previous component video cables. The corrosion factor is almost non-existent from these cables also and I find that helps create a nicer connection between a component device to device.

Component video switches need cables that don’t get tangled and this pair of cables really helps answer that bill as it comes with a cable organizer. Tangles in cables will be cut down for most users and that is always a plus.

The length of the cord could be a bit longer, perhaps two to four feet longer. If you are connecting a component video switch to a TV its okay, but if you want to use a device mounted on a wall with this cable to a component video switch you may find yourself in some trouble with the length. The other negative thing is that when connected to some devices it appears to saturate the picture a little too much. This will depend on your personal preference though, and the added saturation may actually be a boost for your particular setup.

Overall the Monster ULT V1000 component video cables are a great option for someone who wishes to use a component video switch with a HDTV component input. The quality that you will get from these cables is fantastic and the cost is relatively low. The Monster ULT V1000 component cables are definitely worth a look.

Cons:

The conductors are copper; so corrosion is possible. Given the extremely good quality of all Monster products, this is unlikely to occur.

Review:

These cables by Monster are designed to bring excellent picture quality to your home theatre and they do this perfectly. The durable design and gold contacts ensure that you will be able to use these cables for years with your component video switch or component device.

The support of HDTV signals and enhanced definition TV signals is a good feature that ensures you’ll be able to get the most out of your HD cable receiver or the component video switch that it runs through. The resolutions that are standard are supported by these cables.

The hex-mesh jacket that surrounds the cable seemed a little odd at first to myself, however I find it makes the cable rather tangle free and is very tear resistant. The durability is nice as that means stepping on the cable or moving it has very little chance to ruin any part of it. This is an ideal cable for a component video switch for this very reason.

Given the high quality of picture that is transmitted through this cable and the durability, it is a very good bang for the buck. Give it a shot if you’re building a home theatre; as stated it would be a good cable choice for connecting your component video switch to your HDTV.

One thing that worries me is the conductors of this cable are of fine threaded copper which leads me to believe it is possible for it to face corrosion; however it should not be much of an issue as it looks like it’s a rather well designed component cable. The fine threaded copper is probably better for transferring the picture quickly and cleanly, and so this is only a minor quibble.

Component video switches and component devices sometimes need a better cable to get the full usage out of the device and this is a good choice right here. The Monster Ultra Series creates a great picture and you should seriously consider investing in a set or two if you love your video experience.

These great cables usually list for almost $100, but if you click on the Buy Now link below you can pick them up for $24.50!! – (as at 7 March 2010)

Review:

Like most people out there you may want to improve the quality of your picture and sound of your component devices. If you’re running these devices through a component video switch it’s especially important to make sure the cable can handle the amount of information that a device is passing through the signal. The Monster Cable AV kit is a great option to help improve the performance of your home theatre setup.

The picture that is transmitted through these cables is very good and makes use of monster video 2 component video cabling. HD Video and stereo sound seemed to be improved and more clear than before. By using it with a component video switch that has several HD inputs I found the cable improved the overall output of the component video switch, likely due to a bandwidth increase.

The audio is balanced perfectly across the cables and transmits very good sound from my component video switch. The advanced cabling technology that uses fine copper threading seems to transfer sound with ease and always creates a natural and clear sound.

Overall these are pretty good cables to use with a component video switch; but they could be considered to be a little pricey by some. But as stated earlier, given their super high performance the price is not unexpected. To be honest though, you can actually pay a whole lot more money for another cable with similar specs so you are actually not getting a bad deal here.

Give these a shot if you want to pay a little more. The video and sound that are transmitted from these cables is top notch and surely they will last for years as they appear to be quite durable in build. Component video switches and HD receivers will benefit from these cables especially due to the large amount of bandwidth and audio balancing these cables provide.

If you have handed over more than a few Benjamin’s for you home theatre or gaming system, then I suggest you seriously consider a high quality cable like this to get the most from your setup.

Editor’s Review:

A component video switch will sometimes need a better cable to help output the signal properly. This Monster cable will surely do the trick as it’s a high end cable that is made to deal with the high bandwidth information that HD inputs bring. The design of the cable appears to have been to make a very durable, compatible and high performance cable; because that is what Monster did when creating this cable.

The bandwidth that is required for output from a HD device or component video switch dealing with multiple HD inputs is sometimes very demanding. These cables balance the bandwidth very well and also can deal with a great deal of information. The high velocity signal transfer and high signal strength make sure of this and probably stems from nitrogen that they treat the copper with.

The ability to use these cables with a variety of different devices is very nice. Sometimes I just want to test out a device and find it handy to have a set of cables that is rather “universal” and this fits the bill for most of my devices, the most important being my component video switch. This seems to actually improve the performance of HDTVs and produces a very nice picture compared with most HD components cable defaults.

The cables are all kept together within a mesh tubing that is durable and keeps them tangle free. This allows for great organization with devices and can really tidy up a connection between a component video switch and a component device.

At around $200 USD it is kind of hefty to pay for a set of cables. There might be cheaper options out there, but these are very good cables and do everything very well. You definitely get what you pay for with this offering.

Component video cables really help improve the picture from component devices. The Monster Component video with RCA cable kit is a great option. It has worked perfectly with a component video switch and improved the performance of that device to my HDTV immensely and this is something I cannot understate when I see crystal clear and natural picture.

If you are spending a small fortune on home entertainment equipment, please don’t skimp on the cables. This supplies the lifeblood of information between your devices, and this is in the end the one of the most important aspects of your setup.

If you want the best, and own a lot of top quality equipment including a medium to high end component video switch, then this cable is highly recommended.
